In Tallin part 2: Old town and the Maritime museum

Again there will be a rather big bunch of pictures here.

Old town

On sunday me and the lovely Kati took a morning stroll around the old city centre of Tallin. The crooked streets were so charming and the castle around it very regal. There are tons of little boutiques around old town, albeit most of them are some sort of tourist shops. How ever we managed to find a darling hat shop which quinsedently got a lot of business that morning. Personally I bougth a hat.

Maritime museum

Random artsy photo... Which seems fitting as the Maritime museum had sort of a ghosty athmosphere.

The maritime museum sure was an experience. It was very interactive with movies in submarine models and clothes to try on. It felt like we were underwater for the most part and one could even go into a real USSR-submarine. I didn't dare to I hate tigth spaces but I did explore quite  alot othervise.

I wore:

Hat: Bougth in that little shop I mentioned
Jacket, Dress: Handmade by me
Shirt: Vintage
Gloves: Self-modified
Shoes: Gabor

And yes awkward pose is awkward.

In Tallin part 1: Tv-tower and the home museum of A. H. Tamsaare

I will give you a fair warning. There will be alot of pictures in this post.

I visited Tallinn with a group called Kartanon Ystävät which basicly is a society to support the Historical Museum of Lahti (It's lovely. If you ever come here check it out). Naturally we visited many museums. On the list for saturday there was Tv-tower which had a big role when Estonia got it's independence and Kumu which is the art museum (which I don't have any pictures of, othervise this post would be not only huge but megalomaniacly huge) and the A. H Tammsaare home museum.

TV-Tower

The TV-tower was in someways a bit creepy but the views were magnificent alhtough personally I would of left the holes in the floor out. They were sort of... Scary  but I mustered up the courage to stand on  one after a while.

After the Tv-tower we went to Kumu which was interesting and very inspiring. So many lovely paintings. I got rather distracted and forgot to take any pictures so you'll have to go see for yourselves.

A.H Tamsaare home museum

I absolutely fell in love with this room. The old sewing machine, the whiteworked quilt the laces... It was so deliciously femiminine that I just had to take a whole bunch of pictures of it. The museum as a whole had an amazing array of different textiles to offer (not clothes though but pretty much everything else).

The kitchen was yellow. I liked it very much. It was so fresh.

Lastly a couple of pictures of moi dillidallying in the museum. I was wearing a vintage hat and a vintage shirt with a hand-made skirt and Gabor pumps.

Next time the Maritime museum.

Velvet and lace make everything better

A couple of days ago I purchased a pair of wool gloves from Glitter.  Amazingly warm and cute. I do recommend. After wearing them for one day I decided however that they needed a bit a sprusing up.

The gloves before.
I decided namely to replace the bows which I have to admit do look a bit cheap. After a bit of sewing the gloves looked far better in my opinion.

The gloves now.

I was drowned by a petticoat at the Ounce.

Yesterday I went to Helsinki to meet with Heetteri and her Troll.  She had brougth Pitsiperhonen along which was a lovely surprise. After doing some fabric shopping we ended up in the official loli hangout of Finland, The Ounce.

Heetteri in Old school. The headdress was so pretty.

I wore:

My perfumes

Dior, Laura Biagotti, Guipure.
I love perfumes. A lovely scent can make a dull day feel magical and who wouldn't want to feel magical occasionally. There are so many different scents and feels to choose from. A girl can feel dark and mysterious as easily as she can feel quirky and fun by changing her perfume. To me perfume is a part of my outfit. It is the last finishing touch.

I have a few perfumes I use regularly. Most of the time I trust in my Guipure Silk and Rose scent. Unsurprisingly it is a rose scent and very feminine and romantic. Rose is a very classic scent and will work with most outfits and that's why I prefere to wear it as an everyday scent. My everyday scent used to be pure vanilla but I seem to have grown out of it.

Other of my everyday scent's is Laura by Laura Biagotti. It is definitely super girly and very sweet.  I wear it more rarely than Guipure silk and Rose. Laura is more of a summer scent.

When I am feeling more fancy I wear Dior's Pure Poison. It's dark and mysterious and perfect for those more Gothy days. Pure Poison is my most glamourous and elegent scent and I have noticed that I combine it with certain more glamorous dresses.  It makes me feel almost sensual.

I always test my perfumes before buying them. It is really a rather simple prodecure. First you take scent tags of a few perfumes. After picking your favorite just put some on your wrist and wait for a couple of hours. Scents change on your skin and so it's important to keep it on for sometime to see if it's as lovely as when you first tried it. If not go back and start over.

Perfume is one of the most luxurious things in life. The ornate jewel-like bottles, the hard work that goes into making a topnotch perfume and the moment you put a little (A Lady never reeks of perfume. It's not very polite.) on your skin, give an air of new born aristocracy.
